Is it the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods (OHAN), representing 24 neighborhood communities in the Oak Hill area? Is it the Oak Hill Business and Professional Association (OHBPA), with slightly more than 100 members listed on its Web site? Is it the Oak Hill Combined Neighborhood Planning Contact Team (OHCNPCT), a varied group of stakeholders who have spent many hours in the last two years crafting the neighborhood plan? OAK HILL - Oak Hill and Westlake Fire Department Chief Gary Warren was one of several fire officials who received the prestigious designation of Chief Fire Officer at a banquet in Denver, Colorado last week. He was honored Saturday, August 16 at the Center for Public Safety Excellence annual banquet, which was hosted in conjunction with the International Association of Fire Chief’s 135th anniversary celebration.
The Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) establishes and promotes recognized professional standards to help fire agencies move beyond tactical deployment to continuous strategic improvement. The Chief Fire Officer program consists of several components encompassing the professional and personal characteristic profile desired of a CFO, including education, experience, professional development, technical competencies, contributions and achievements in the profession, association memberships and community involvement. OAK HILL - A week after representatives of the West Park PUD (WPP) stunned the Oak Hill Combined Neighborhood Plan contact team (OHCNPCT) by withdrawing from the plan, a lot of people are wondering, ‘What happens now?
Last week, with a looming City Council meeting to consider the Oak Hill Combined Neighborhood Plan and its future land use map (FLUM), some of the contact team members who have worked long and hard on both, met one last time to make some final decisions on the FLUM in the hope of presenting a somewhat unified Oak Hill. At that meeting, the team voted to “down-FLUM” (change the land use designation to allow for less commercial development) the undeveloped property near the ‘Y,’ including property owned by Steve Scott and the WPP owned by Buffalo Equities and its principal, Rudy Belton. In recent months West Park PUD representatives have held numerous community meetings to show their idea of a town center development for the property, and have made changes based on community comment.
